How Can Personal Trainers Improve Their Service to their Clients?  In the fitness industry, you’ll always hear of anecdotes from various sources such as print and tv ads, gyms and personal trainers speaking about diet and what specific routines they should be doing to achieve their personal fitness goals.  There are step by step eating plans, workout systems and trainers that flood the market all promising to deliver those goals to clients looking to become better versions of themselves.  Personal trainers, along with the fitness industry, have a strong pulse on what their current and potential clients seek when they are training with their PT’s.  So, we decided to test out this theory, which lead us to do a bit of research to determine what the clients of personal trainers thought their trainers could improve on with their services.  With most of the trainers we spoke with, the results came as much of a surprise.

NLP & The Power Of Language For Personal Trainers

NLP Language Patterns

When interacting and communicating with your client, there are ways that you can create new beliefs, behaviours and associations for them.  NLP Language patterns can be used in a natural way and fall into a few different types, such as deletions, generalisations and distortions.

  • Deletions allow the listener / client, to fill in with whatever information or meaning that is appropriate for them based on their experiences.
  • Generalisations will help your client to overcome self-imposed limits, allow you to suggest empowering beliefs, actions and permissive suggestions.
  • Distortions which allow the client to alter information so that it fits their preconceptions or perceptions.
